Free or low-cost pregnancy care. Income limit: Medicaid up to 195% FPL; CHIP up to 260% FPL; prenatal coverage through the CHIP 'unborn child' (FCEP) option up to 265% FPL, regardless of immigration status.
Coverage continues for 12 months after birth. You may be able to get care right away while your application is processed (presumptive eligibility).
Must the father help pay for the pregnancy? Partly. A parentage judgment can order the father to pay the reasonable expenses of the mother's pregnancy and confinement (birth), plus genetic testing; child support itself starts at birth (past support can be ordered).
