Coverage continues for 12 months after birth. You may be able to get care right away while your application is processed (presumptive eligibility).
Must the father help pay for the pregnancy? Partly. A parentage case can be started while pregnant (it finishes after birth); if the case is brought within 2 years of the birth, the court may order either parent to pay reasonable expenses of the pregnancy and delivery. Child support starts after birth.
