For dads
A father's responsibility in Mississippi
Must the father help pay for the pregnancy? Partly. The father of a child born outside marriage is liable for the reasonable expense of the mother's pregnancy and confinement (birth), whether or not the child is born alive, as well as for the child's support. These costs are enforced through a paternity case, which can be started during pregnancy.
Miss. Code Ann. §93-9-7; §93-9-9(1); §93-9-19 (Mississippi Uniform Law on Paternity)
Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Child Support Enforcement: establish paternity and support
