For dads
A father's responsibility in New Jersey
Must the father help pay for the pregnancy? Partly. The court may order the father to pay the reasonable expenses of the mother's pregnancy and postpartum disability, including repaying public assistance. A parentage case can be filed before birth: the main proceedings wait until after birth, but the court can still consider and order these pregnancy medical expenses.
