For dads
A father's responsibility in Virginia
Must the father help pay for the pregnancy? Partly. If a parentage case is filed within six months of the baby's birth, the court must (unless there is good cause or the parents agree otherwise) split the mother's unreimbursed pregnancy and delivery medical costs, and other pre-birth expenses for the baby, between the parents in proportion to their incomes.
